The controls are complicated to execute and difficult to remember. I have a variety of neurological… we'll call them "quirks" which have prevented me from engaging with them on a meaningful level over the last thirty-ish years or so (and were only truly diagnosed at my current age). I am not, however, good at fighting games. Maybe I just need to friend some classic beginners to play with so things even out.
Hoping I can get good enough to get out of the predicament I’m in where it normalizes out. If it was just easy special moves that’s one thing, but being able to unleash some pretty heavy combos as punishes at such lower levels is harsh. I just wish I could learn it playing against other players in my situation rather than being bullied at the early levels. I find the act of learning moves fun and rewarding.
I don’t want to switch to modern controls, I want to learn how to play with classic as I feel I’ll get more enjoyment out of it in the long run. It’s pretty much forced me off of online for the time being as I just can’t compete when I’m working on putting simple combos together. I wish there was a way to prioritize other classic players at my low beginner level. I’m not being elitist, I just want to learn classic as I find that control method fun. I’m working to learn classic but it’s a gauntlet to learn with modern players being able to auto combo OD punishes out of the gate.
